Newsflash
WordWise Inc., a developer of educational publishing materials, has instituted a corporate giving program this year. For each project WordWise completes for one of its educational publishing clients during the year, WordWise will make a contribution to either Project HOTSHOTS or the 4K for Cancer. Each client decides to which of these charities the donation corresponding to their project will be made; or they can decide to split the donation between the two charities. WordWise will make these contributions twice yearly. As a result of this corporate giving program WordWise is donating $1,050 to project HOTSHOTS for the first half of 2010.

1,500 More Backpacks!!

Feb. 6, 2010

Dear John,

Give Kids A Smile was a great success and your organization played a big part in it.  This year over 1400 children were treated to a day of dental screenings and dental education.  They watched dental videos and saw puppet shows and got a tour of the firefighters museum and then had their snacks and got their great back packs.  They loved the back packs especially the Blues Clue coloring book and crayons.

The event was the best GKAS day in the 7 years since it started and Project HOTSHOTS  really helped us succeed.

Thank you for your generosity and support.  The left over back packs are on their way to Haiti with a group of dentists and we are proud to send them.

Hope to continue being a part of Project HOTSHOTS for many more events.

Thanks again,

Joe Brofsky

A Letter from the Little League in Camden, NJ

Dear John,

I wanted to write to tell you how much we appreciate the work you do.  We are the only little league in this area and have very little in the way of funding.

Many of our players come from low income families and are unable to pay registration dues. Those who do pay, send what they can afford which is normally very little.

You and Project HOTSHOTs have been a true blessing.  We are able to have a complete season without denying anyone, thanks to you. We greatly appreciate the donated equipment and will never forget you.

Sincerely,

Luis Neco
President -
Cramer Hill Little League in Camden, NJ

NOTE: Mr. Neco mentioned to me that there is a gentleman in their community who takes baseball mitts apart, puts them back together and creates new mitts out of the excess leather. Wow. We doubled our efforts to get the Cramer Hill LL more baseball gloves and the students of Oceanside turned out BIG TIME. - Mr. Neco, 3 boxes of baseball mitts are on their way to you via UPS  as you read this.

Wonderful HOTSHOTS - Aledo, TX

More HOTSHOTS to be proud of!

Kristen Pass
The Aledo High School (Aledo, TX) student body is the latest group of young HOTSHOTS to make us proud.  Perhaps you read about them or saw some news coverage... if not, check this out Here. and Here.

In short, the Senior Class voted Miss Kristin Pass their Homecoming Queen for 2008. Kristin, (center) who has Down Syndrome is absolutely thrilled!  She's flanked by runners up Erica Pace (l.) and Kelsey Williams (r.)

Now if only we can convince Kristin, her sister Kendall and their awesome friends to run our 2009 Backpack Operation Texas-style! (I think it's a go!)

HOTSHOTS air guitars to everyone at Aledo High.
