So here are some Questions and Answers regarding Project HOTSHOTS. Q: All volunteer? A: Yes. Q: 501 c 3, meaning my donation is tax-deductible? A: Yes. Q: Do you only help kids in the U.S.? A: No, we help kids all over the world. About 70% of the children we help do live in the U.S., the rest are in Africa, Central and South America, the Caribbean, Canada's NorthWest Territories and more. Q: Can my kids get community service credit for helping your organization? A: Yes, over one hundred students already have. Bar Mitzvah, Confirmation, Eagle Scout, and college application credit have all been given. Q: What's with all the rock stars and athletes who have joined your organization? A: These people are always looking to be a part of a group like ours. Truth is, there aren't that many. It's our mission - combined with the fact that we're all volunteer and operate with 0% overhead that appeals to them. And there's nothing like getting a phone call from Meat Loaf! Q: Are you religious? A: Me, yeah, the organization? No. We don't discriminate or endorse any religion, political party or candidate...ever. Q: Are you open to suggestion? A: Oh yes, by all means. Send any ideas and insights you might have. Q: To date, how many kids have you helped? A: As of January 2010, we've sent 9,400 school supply-filled backpacks to students in need. We've supplied well over 1,000 young athletes with cleats, mitts, bats, - all the gear you can think of. Over 2,000 young children have received Christmas and Hannukah gifts, as part of our Holiday Helping Hand. We'll help well over 8,000 more underprivileged children in 2010.

From Jose & Susan Feliciano: |
|
Since my husband, Jose, and I have become involved with Project HOTSHOTS, we have learned of some of the fine work that the organization has accomplished. It seems like a rather simple concept and could very easily have been overlooked by less astute individuals who don't consider the basic fact that when a child goes to school, the self-esteem of feeling prepared can make all the difference in their otherwise dismal world. Imagine! To have a new, clean, intact backpack on your shoulder, filled with sharpened pencils and new crayons all in their box and pens that work! Now these children feel as though they are ready to learn; to meet the challenge of their day, prepared with the basic tools that so many of us take for granted. Don't you feel spiffy when you walk out the door in a new pair of shoes? Providing they don't kill your feet, you feel like you can take on the world! Or, better yet, when you first sit behind the wheel of your new car? You think, "Well, look at me!" It's the same thing for these children who live with so little material goods in their lives -- something like a new backpack for school is a tremendous gift and an asset to their future. I personally want to thank the people at Project HOTSHOTS who not only saw the need but envisioned the opportunity and have made "life" a better place for so many young people in our world! The Feliciano Family
---------------------------------- note: The Felicianos have been extremely generous, enthusiastic and supportive of the work we do. Jose Feliciano has recently performed for the Pope and the President... and his song "Feliz Navidad" was recently inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. |
